The Academic Committee of the Program shall be the body responsible for the evaluation of applications for admission to the program.

The Academic Committee of the Doctoral Program shall be composed of the Program coordinator and doctoral degree holders with accredited research experience who participate in it, as well as representatives of public and private research organizations with which the Program has established collaboration agreements. It shall be appointed by the Rector upon proposal of the School Board. The composition of this committee shall ensure a balanced representation of the different scientific areas and subareas that make up the Program (statistics, computer science, mathematics, economics, business administration and management, and sociology).

The evaluation of merits shall be carried out taking into account the following elements:

  • (25%) Suitability to the recommended admission profile.

  • (35%) Academic record in Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, or equivalent degrees (Licentiate, Engineer, or Architect), in relation to the research lines of the Doctoral Program.

  • (25%) Curriculum Vitae, considering both academic background and research experience, as well as relevant professional experience for the Doctoral Program. This includes collaboration grants and similar activities.

  • (15%) Personal interview, in which the following aspects will be assessed: the applicant’s attitude and the alignment of the applicant’s research interests with the Doctoral Program’s research lines.

Check the requirements of the Doctoral Program "Data Analysis (Data Science)".

In the admission process, the principles of merit, equality, and ability shall prevail. In any case, there shall be an appeals committee under the authority of the Vice-Rectorate responsible for postgraduate studies (see: https://edoctorado.ucm.es/normativa).

Once the candidate has been admitted, the Academic Committee shall appoint a tutor responsible for ensuring the adequacy of the doctoral student's training. It shall also specify whether the doctoral student requires additional training complements, based on their prior education and experience, as set out in section 3.4 of this application.

Students with specific educational needs arising from disabilities

The Academic Committee of the Program shall assess the admission applications of students with disabilities, taking into account the need for specific curricular adaptations depending on the type of disability and the doctoral research project or proposal.

On an individualized basis, and with the advice of the OIPD (Office for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities of UCM), the specific needs of students with disabilities will be addressed regarding the content of non-regulated training components, as well as the monitoring and evaluation methods.
