Doctoral follow-up

 Versión español

The thesis supervision system in the proposed Doctoral program will be governed by the current regulations at the Complutense University of Madrid: https://edoctorado.ucm.es/normativa

Once enrolled in the program, a personalized Activity Document will be created for each doctoral student. This document will be regularly reviewed by the tutor and the thesis director and evaluated by the Academic Committee responsible for the doctoral program.

The UCM has a specific application for Activity Registration and Research Plan (RAPI), primarily managed by the doctoral student. However, the recorded activities must be validated in this application by the tutor and director, who thereby certify the registered activities.

Before the end of the first year, the doctoral student will prepare a Research Plan, which can be refined and detailed throughout their time in the program. This plan will include at least the methodology to be used and the objectives to be achieved. The project must be endorsed by the tutor and director and approved by the program’s Academic Committee.

Annually, the program’s Academic Committee will evaluate the Research Plan and the Activity Register together with the reports that must be issued for this purpose by the tutor and director. A positive evaluation will be an essential requirement to continue in the program. In the event of a negative evaluation, properly justified, the doctoral student must be re-evaluated within six months, for which a new Research Plan will be prepared.

In the event of a further negative evaluation, the doctoral student will be permanently removed from the program.
